Juneteenth + The SF Freedom Trail

Learning that "history"is all about perspective

Thank you Mayor London Breed for the support and advice for our group!

We spent the morning with historian John William Templeton, author of Our Roots Run Deep: the Black Experience in California, Vols. 1-4 to build awareness of centrality of the Black experience in California.

Learning about William Leidesdorff and his contributions to the founding of San Francisco was incredibly eye opening. It made us all much more curious about history and whose version of history we have been retelling.

After our walking tour, we finished at the Ferry Building where they had a beautiful Juneteenth Celebration featuring Black owned food vendors. The oysters and mac and cheese from the SF Black Wall Street tent were delicious!
